Entitled family demands to buy goats from animal sanctuary while on tour there, tour guide puts them in their place: ‘They left goatless’

No goats for you today, sir.

Our dream life, and we are sure it is also the dream life of many, is to buy a faraway farm in the middle of nowhere, get a couple of chickens, cows, and goats, and lead a peaceful life as animal-loving farmers. We would take care of all the animals, even help rescue some farm friends in need, grow our own food with their help, and never disturb or be disturbed by anyone else ever again. It would just be us, the animals, and the quietness of the never-ending fields. 

In order to achieve this dream, we need a land, a farm, and the lovely animals. The first two are easily acquired if you have the means, but to get the animals, we have to be really careful, so we would not end up like the family in the story below.

This animal sanctuary used to be an animal farm from which people could buy all kinds of animals. They did background checks, and always made sure that their farm furiends were in good hands, but we can all agree that this business is not one any of us would want to run. The animals deserve better.

Well, the people who own the farm agree, so they turned it into an animal sanctuary, and now they only allow visitors to tour the farm, and no one leaves with any of its residents. However, one family apparently did not get the memo about the rebranding, and when they arrived on their tour, they came with a cage, fully expecting to buy some goats.

The tour guide who greeted them tried to explain to them that the business had changed, and that they would not be leaving the sanctuary with a single goat, but the family refused to listen. Throughout the entire tour, they discussed which goat they were going to buy, and proved to the tour guide that even if they could, this family should not be allowed to buy any of the farm animals.

  • This breed of goats goes into heat (meaning are able to breed) year round. That means a female would potentially be either pregnant or birthing constantly.

  • Thats: 1) unhealthy for the females, 2) a LOT of babies, and 3) a major increase in the chance of inbreeding

  • Sons and brothers will breed to their mothers and sisters. There is no issue with housing wethers and females.
